PA-KL² folding arms from SIMON PROtec in the Prinz-Carl-Palais in Munich
Preventive fire protection in historic and listed buildings is a sensitive issue. Due to their old building fabric, the fire risk in these buildings is often many times higher than in modern buildings. This circumstance makes a concept for preventive fire protection all the more necessary. At the same time, the historical appearance should not be impaired or even altered by technical installations, especially if such buildings serve representative purposes.
These very conditions presented a challenge when installing a smoke and heat extraction system in the Prinz-Carl-Palais on Munich's Altstadtring. The early classicist-style building is the official residence of the Bavarian Prime Minister and is used for representative purposes. Our PA-KL² folding arms were used to create an opening for smoke and heat extraction and ventilation in the imposing glass ceiling above the light-flooded entrance hall. With its elegant and space-saving design, our PA-KL² folding arm is the ideal solution for use in this historic setting. The actuators achieve the required opening characteristics through the installation of a specially manufactured mounting plate.
SIMON PROtec also supplied the control technology in the form of an M-SHEV-24 control unit, which provides sufficient power for smooth operation of the actuators.
Once again, SIMON PROtec proves that preventive fire protection can be easily integrated into listed historic buildings thanks to customised solutions and sophisticated technology.
